I needed this to power my Audio Technica AT4050, i mic known for needing "full power." (not all mics actully require "all" of the voltage a 48V provides, and not all boards/preamps actually supply it)
Specifically, i recently got a UA LA-610 that just wouldn't give the juice my AT needed. So it was either find an authorized repair center, hope the warrenty might cover a 1 1/2 year old seconhand unit, wait for it to be fixed - or spend a couple bucks on this and get it working right away.
And now i have a reliable, portable, dedicated phantom power supply handy.
No brainer if you find yourself with a similar problem.
